A HISTORY OF GOD Karen Armstrong 1993 The God of the Mystics Page 250 "Perhaps the most famous of the early Jewish mystical texts is the fifth century Sefer Yezirah (The Book of Creation). There is no attempt to describe the creative process realistically; the account is unashamedly symbolic and shows God creating the world by means of language as though he were writing a book. But language has been entirely transformed and the message of creation is no longer clear. Each letter of the Hebrew alphabet is given a numerical value; by combining the letters with the sacred numbers, rearranging them in endless configurations, the mystic weaned his mind away from the normal connotations of words."

THE MAN WHO LOVED ONLY NUMBERS Paul Hoffman 1 999 Page 217 "Mathematicians in India in the sixth century had developed a place value system and introduced the concept of a zero to keep their symbols in their proper places. Thus a 1 with an 0 after it, or 10, is a very different number from a 1 alone. Erdos, who always joked that he was old and stupid, said the Indians were very clever, not just in their discovery of zero, but in their choice of similar- sounding Hindi words for stupid person (buddhu) and old person (buddha). In the seventh century, Hindu scholars introduced Islam to the Indian number scene, and the ideas of zero / Page 216 ( omitted) and place value spread rapidly throughout the Arabic world. Six centuries later, Fibonacci was so impressed with the ease of the Hindu-Arabic numerals that he wanted to make Pisan merchants aware of them. In 1202, he wrote Liber abaci (Book of the Abacus), which, despite the title had little to do with the Abacus and a lot to do with liberating computations from the yoke of Roman numerals. The book seems quaint from the vantage point of the twentieth century, because it explains what we take for granted. "The nine Indian figures are: 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 , and with the sign Zero. . . any number can be written."

In the same way Nature is able to convey with her language how a cell and a whole organism is to be constructed and how it is to function. THE CITY OF REVELATION John Michell 1972 Gnostic Numbers Page 118 "Exactly how they came by their science of numbers is not certain, but they appear to have made the discovery that the numerical code of the Hebrew cabala and those of other mystical systems throughout the world were all degenerate versions of the same once universal system of knowledge that returns within the reach of human perception at certain intervals in time. As the revealed books of the Old Testament were written in a code to be interpreted by reference to number, so were the revelations of the gnostic prophets expressed in words and phrases formed on a system of proportion, which gave life and power to the Christian myth, while allowing initiates to gain a further understanding of the balance of forces that produce the world of phenomena." Page 121 / How it was ever supposed that the Hebrew alphabet of twenty- two letters, together with various geometrical symbols might serve to represent the entire moving pattern of the universe is not now easy to understand; but, since all ancient philosophy, religion, magic, the arts and sciences were based on the concept of a correspondence between numbers and cosmic law, it is impossible to appreciate the history of the past without some actual experience of the fundamental truth behind this approach to cosmology. Plato gives a remarkable account in Cratylos of the origin of language and letters. The philosopher is asked whether there is any particular significance in names, for surely they are simply a matter of convention and one is more or less as good as another. After all, foreigners call things by different names and appear to manage just as well as the Greeks in this respect. The answer given is that despite appearances the matter is by no means so simple. Words are the tools of expression, and the making of these, as of any other tools, is the task of a skilled craftsman, in this case the lawgiver. Language has grown corrupt over the ages, and names have deviated from their original perfect forms, which are those used by the gods. But all names were originally formed on certain principles, through knowledge of which it is possible to discover the archetypal meaning of words in current use. 'So perhaps the man who knows about names considers their value and is not confused if some letter is added, transposed or subtracted, or even if the force of the name is expressed in quite different letters.' This is Plato's clearest reference to the mystical science of the cabala, in which letters, words and whole phrases may be substituted for others of the same numerical value. The force of a name is to be found in its number, and can be expressed through any combination of letters, provided the sum of the letters amounts to the appropriate number by gematria.

Signaling theory is useful for describing behavior when two parties (individuals or organizations) have access to different information. Typically, one party, the sender, must choose whether and how to communicate (or signal) that information, and the other party, the receiver, must choose how to interpret the signal. In contract theory, signalling (or signaling; see spelling differences) is the idea that one party (termed the agent) credibly conveys some information about itself to another party (the principal

Three of the most significant forms of Brahman are Brahma , Shiva and Vishnu . These three gods are key aspects of Brahman, the Ultimate Reality . The word 'trimurti' means 'three forms'. In the trimurti, Brahma is the creator, Vishnu is the preserver and Shiva is the destroyer.
Brahma | Hindu god Encyclopedia Britannica 2 Mar 2023 — Brahma, one of the major gods of Hinduism from about 500 bce to 500 ce, who was gradually eclipsed by Vishnu, Shiva, and the great Goddess ... Brahma, one of the major gods of Hinduism from about 500 BCE to 500 CE, who was gradually eclipsed by Vishnu, Shiva, and the great Goddess (in her multiple aspects). Associated with the Vedic creator god Prajapati, whose identity he assumed, Brahma was born from a golden egg and created the earth and all things on it. Later myths describe him as having come forth from a lotus that issued from Vishnu’s navel. By the middle of the 1st millennium CE, an attempt to synthesize the diverging sectarian traditions is evident in the doctrine of the Trimurti, which considers Vishnu, Shiva, and Brahma as three forms of the supreme unmanifested deity. By the 7th century, Brahma had largely lost his claim to being a supreme deity, although the Trimurti continued to figure importantly in both text and sculpture. Today there is no sect that exclusively worships Brahma, and few temples are dedicated to him. Nevertheless, most temples dedicated to Shiva or Vishnu contain an image of Brahma. Omar Ali Saifuddin mosque, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. Brahma is usually depicted as having four faces, symbolic of a wide-ranging four-square capacity, as expressed in the four Vedas (collections of poems and hymns), the four yugas (“ages”), the four varnas (social classes), the four directions, the four stages of life (ashramas), and so forth. He is usually shown with four arms, holding an alms bowl, a bow, prayer beads, and a book. He may be seated or standing on a lotus throne or on his mount, a goose. Savitri and Sarasvati, respectively exemplars of faithfulness and of music and learning, frequently accompany him. This article was most recently revised and updated by Matt Stefon.
trimurti, (Sanskrit: “three forms”) in Hinduism, triad of the three gods Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. The concept was known at least by the time of Kalidasa’s poem Kumarasambhava (“Birth of the War God”; c. 4th–5th century CE). The trimurti collapses the three gods into a single form with three faces. Each god is in charge of one aspect of creation, with Brahma as creator, Vishnu as preserver, and Shiva as destroyer. In combining the three deities in this way, however, the doctrine elides the fact that Vishnu is not merely a preserver and Shiva is not merely a destroyer. Moreover, while Vishnu and Shiva are widely worshipped in India, very few temples are dedicated to Brahma, who is expressly said to have lost his worshippers as the result of telling a lie and is merely entrusted with the task of creation under the direction of one of the other two gods. Scholars consider the doctrine of the trimurti to be an attempt to reconcile different approaches to the divine with each other and with the philosophical doctrine of ultimate reality (brahman).
Sarasvati, Hindu goddess of learning and the arts, especially music. First appearing as the personification of the sacred river Sarasvati and also identified with Vac, the goddess of speech, she is later named the consort, daughter, or granddaughter of the god Brahma. She is regarded as the patroness of art, music, and letters and as the inventor of the Sanskrit language. She is usually represented as riding on a goose of pure white that is able to undertake long flights and as holding a vina (any of several stringed instruments of India, including the lute) and a manuscript or book. In modern times her mount has frequently been represented as a swan. Sarasvati is worshipped at the advent of spring (January–February), when her image is taken out in jubilant procession, but she is also invoked perennially and at examination times by students and by artists and performers of all kinds. Sarasvati is also popular in Jain and Buddhist mythology. The river Sarasvati is revered above all others in the Vedas (a collection of poems and hymns) and is by far the one most frequently mentioned. Because it corresponds to none of the major rivers of present-day South Asia, it has for centuries been regarded as subtle or mythic, converging unseen with the Ganges and Jamuna rivers when they flow together at Prayag (Allahabad). The millions of pilgrims who participate in the great religious festival Kumbh Mela every 12 years at this site are thus said to bathe in the tri-veni (“triple confluence”), as do all pilgrims to Prayag, which is therefore sometimes called “king of tirthas (sacred places).”
Omar Ali Saifuddin mosque, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. A major debate at the beginning of the 21st century focused on whether the Vedic Sarasvati corresponds to a major dry riverbed forming part of the Indus complex and containing many unexcavated archaeological sites. If so, this forgotten Sarasvati might provide a major link between Vedic and Indus valley cultures. The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica
Religions - Hinduism: Brahma BBC Brahma is the first god in the Hindu triumvirate, or trimurti. The triumvirate consists of three gods who are responsible for the creation, upkeep and destruction of the world. The other two gods are Vishnu and Shiva. Vishnu is the preserver of the universe, while Shiva's role is to destroy it in order to re-create. Brahma's job was creation of the world and all creatures. His name should not be confused with Brahman, who is the supreme God force present within all things. Brahma is the least worshipped god in Hinduism today. There are only two temples in the whole of India devoted to him, compared with the many thousands devoted to the other two. What does Brahma look like? Painted engraving of Brahma showing his four headsBrahma, 1820 British engraving © He has four arms and is usually depicted with a beard. Brahma's consort is Saraswati, goddess of knowledge. Why is Brahma not worshipped so much? The first view is that Brahma created a woman in order to aid him with his job of creation. She was called Shatarupa. She was so beautiful that Brahma became infatuated with her, and gazed at her wherever she went. This caused her extreme embarrassment and Shatarupa tried to turn from his gaze. But in every direction she moved, Brahma sprouted a head until he had developed four. Finally, Shatarupa grew so frustrated that she jumped to try to avoid his gaze. Brahma, in his obsession, sprouted a fifth head on top of all. It is also said in some sources that Shatarupa kept changing her form. She became every creature on earth to avoid Brahma. He however, changed his form to the male version of whatever she was and thus every animal community in the world was created. Lord Shiva admonished Brahma for demonstrating behaviour of an incestuous nature and chopped off his fifth head for 'unholy' behaviour. Since Brahma had distracted his mind from the soul and towards the cravings of the flesh, Shiva's curse was that people should not worship Brahma. As a form of repentance, it is said that Brahma has been continually reciting the four Vedas since this time, one from each of his four heads. A second view of why Brahma is not worshipped, and a more sympathetic one, is that Brahma's role as the creator is over. It is left to Vishnu to preserve the world and Shiva to continue its path of cosmic reincarnation.

A Soul Window Mystery of Mount Kailash and secrets revealed The holy Mt. Kailash, which is also known as the stairway to heaven is undoubtedly the most mysterious of all mountain ranges in the whole of Himalayas. Kailash Parbat is a lone peak which is detached from the Himalayan range of mountains. Having visited Kailash Mansarovar, I thought of spilling the beans on the best kept secrets of Kailash Parbat which very few people know about. In this comprehensive blog, I will share some of the well-known and little-known facts, secrets and unsolved mysteries of Kailash Parbat. My aim is to give you new insights under one roof in a detailed article. There are several reasons why the sacred Kailash Parvat is universally accepted as divine. I am sharing below some of the most mysterious facts about Mount Kailash. Ministry of External Affairs of India organises Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through two classic routes which include via Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand in North India and Nathu La Pass of Sikkim in North East India. What is the mystery behind Mount Kailash? Let us find out more in this exhaustive blog! I have explained all the aspects in this information packed travelogue. Below is all you wanted to know about the secret, miracle and mystery of Kailash Parbat. I have answered all the commonly asked questions in this well researched article. Much of what I have shared here is not ever published in the mainstream media or the old school traditional travel guide books. Before I start telling you about the Kailash mystery, let me tell you that Kailash Parvat is revered by Bon religion, Hindu and its offshoots such as Sikhism, Jainism and Buddhism. This is why Kailash Parvat has so many names such as ?????, Kailayam, Kailasa, Kailasam, Mount Kailash, Mt. Astapada, Swastika Mountain, Gang Rinpoche, Kangri Rinpoche, Kang Tisé, Tisé mountain and Kangrinboqê peak etc. Does Lord Shiva live at Mount Kailash? The followers of Hindu faith say that Shiv Bhagwan sits in perpetual meditation on Kailash Parbat. Kailash Parbat has remained the abode of Lord Shiva since the past 21,000 years. It is the biggest Kailash Parvat secret. Has anyone seen Lord Shiva in Mount Kailash? The secret of Gauri Kund Mount Kailash Shiva Face Can we see Lord Shiva? It is commonly known that the face of Lord Shiva appears on the holy Mt Kailash. It was found by the Nasa scientists as stated above. The top view of the face of Shiv Bhagwan is not visible to devotees or any other since it is a satellite image. However, I also saw two huge faces on the North face of Kailash Parbat on the same day I saw carved images of Hanuman ji, Vaishno Devi Mata, Ganesh Bhagwan and others. The huge face took shape when the snow fell on the black mountain. It looked like a clear face with nose and mouth. And when I saw the mouth in the same face, the mouth looked like a face too. Eerie! Isn’t it? I didn’t need Nasa to see the carving of face of Shiv ji. Shiva Face on Mount Kailash which I saw was located between the images of Vaishno Mata Pindi and image of Ganesh Bhagwan on the North face of the holy mountain in Deraphuk. Secret of four faces of Mount Kailash Parbat Did you know that the four faces of Kailash Parbat face the four different directions of the compass viz north, south, east and west? This is how Kailash Mountain emits positive energy in all 4 directions. It is mysterious how perfectly the four slopes of Kailash Mountain face different directions. It has been clearly described in the ancient Hindu scripture Vishnu Purana that each face of Kailash Parvat is composed of precious stones such as Ruby (west face), Lapis Lazuli (Southface), Gold (North face) and Crystal (east face). Swastika Symbol on Kailash Parbat Just after I left Yam Dwar on day one of Kailash parikrama, I saw a huge Swastika symbol made on the rock right next to the stone that looked like Nandi ji. Swastika is a sacred symbol in Hinduism. As per some devotees, around sun set, the mountain casts a shadow on the pyramid-shaped Kailash Parbat which looks like the sacred symbol of Swastika. In Hinduism, Swastika is considered to be auspicious and sacrosanct. Swastika is visible on the West face of Kailash Parvat. Soul Window Observations Many people have observed a Swastika on the South face of Kailash Parbat. I was amazed to see the clear symbol of Swastika etched out on a rock near Kailash Parvat. I had no words! I just stood there, bewildered! How can there be so many symbols related to Sanatan Dharm or Hinduism ate every corner. It is impossible that these symbols are carved by humans to manipulate them. Numb and speechless, a visit to Kailash Parvat changed my perceptions to science, as we know it. Natural Nandi Idol near Kailash Parvat Just as we started walking towards Deraphuk monastery from Yam Dwar on the first day of parikrama around the sacred Kailash Parbat, my co traveler Sumit ji asked me have a darshan of Nandi ji. “Nandi ji? In the middle of nowhere in remote Tibet?”, I wondered. Till then, I did not know the immense spiritual significance of Kailash Parbat. When I failed to see Nandi ji, he pointed me towards a rock structure. After a little effort, I was spellbound to see that the rock which I was looking at, was eerily shaped like Nandi ji. Located near the entrance of parikrama of Kailash Parvat, Nandi ji stood as the guard of this holy mountain on the western face of Mt. Kailash. Kailash Parbat is where Lord Shiva (as the west calls Him) stays. Being his abode, Shiva Bhagwan performs eternal meditation with his beloved wife Parvati Maa and the guardian deity of Kailasha Parvat, Nandi Bull. The much-loved Nandi ji is the animal form of Shiva Bhagwan. It is also the vahana or means of transportation of Shiv ji as well as His most faithful worshiper. As per the ancient Shaivite literature in Sanskrit language, Tamil language and other old Indic languages, Nandi ji is seen as the anthropomorphic door-keeper of Kailasha Parbat, rather than the savari or vahan of Shiva ji. It is common knowledge that the worship of Shiv Bhagwan and Nandi ji is also observed during the ancient Indus Valley Civilization. Several seals depicting Lord Shiva (as the West calls Him) and Nandi Bull like animal figures have been unearthed from the excavation sites of Harappa and Mohenjo daro in present day Pakistan in South Asia. Soul Window Facts The Curse of Nandi ji: Did you know about this interesting tale about Nandi ji and Ravan as told in ancient puranic tales? Nandi ji had an altercation with Ravana, the villain of Hindu epic Ramayan. Nandi ji confronted Ravan on why he behaved restlessly like a monkey while trying to meet Shiv ji. (for deeper context read my blog on Gauri Kund) Unhappy with unruly ways of Ravan, Nandi ji cursed him Ravana, who was the demon King of Lanka, now known as Sri Lanka. Nandi ji predicted that a time will come when the golden kingdom or Sone Ki Lanka of Ravan will be burnt down by an army of forest dwelling monkeys or vanaras. The prophecy of nandi ji came true when Hanuman ji burnet down Lanka with his tail while trying to search and rescue Seeta Maa, who was kidnapped by Ravana and held captive in the secret Ashok Vatika. Carving of Vaishno Devi Mata on Kailash Parbat I don’t know why no one talks about it but I actually saw and photographed picture of Mata Vaishno Devi on the North face of Mount Kailash from my guesthouse in Deraphuk. I have never seen any article or video on this. Maybe, I am one of the few lucky ones who actually saw it. This is the first time someone is sharing the same. Towards the left side of Kailash Parbat, I saw snow forming image of Vaishno Devi Mata on the pitch-black Kailash Parvat. Vaishno Devi Maa was represented in the form of Pindi. It is the same Pindi I had darshan of when I visited Maa Vaishno Devi in good weather. You can also reach Vaishno Devi ji by helicopter or by an easy walk. Carvings above Mount Kailash Thanks to the modern satellite imagery, we now know that there are many more carvings and sculptures on the holy Kailash Parvat. Needless to say, that these are not any other ordinary carvings. It is estimated that these mysterious carvings are as tall as 250 feet. We must have looked like a tiny insignificant speck in front of these huge carvings as we walked around Kailash Parvat. Mount Kailash carvings on North Face We were lucky that we stayed at Deraphuk for longer than most devotees who stay here for only one day. Deraphuk is the most popular stop during parikrama of Kailash Parvat because it falls on the middle of the route. Deraphuk also has the grandest view of the holy Kailash Parvat. This is where it is least covered by other adjacent mountains. Ever since I arrived at the guesthouse of Driraphuk, I had been staring at Kailash Parvat all day, trying to see the unseen, trying to hear the unheard! I did not notice anything eerie and supernatural for most part of my stay here. It was very cloudy when I visited. However, on my last day many miracles happened around Mt Kailash. Suddenly, the skies cleared, it was bright and sunny, it drizzled a little and I even saw a double rainbow. It was magical but better things awaited me in evening. I was just loitering around aimlessly when Sumit ji asked to see the carvings on the wide north face of Kailash Parvat. I did not understand when he wanted me to see the images of Hanuman ji, Vaishno Devi Mata, Shiv ji and Ganesh ji on the mountain. Clouds had surrounded most of Kailash Parvat anyways. Soul Window Moments! After much observation, what I saw made my jaws drop. Suddenly I started seeing these images of Hindu deities one after another. Soon, other strangers from India also started to point the same and discucuss it with each other. All the Hindu devotees who were present there saw this miracle of Kailash Parvat. Everyone was overjoyed, surprised and very emotional. It was like Gods giving darshan to devotees one after the another. Who made these carvings on Kailash Parvat? What shocked me was the sheer grandeur of the carvings and the questions that followed. I was constantly thinking, “Who made these carvings?” because clearly no human has ever been successful in climbing atop Kailash Parvat. I have stayed for many days in Deraphuk and never before this, did I see such carvings on Kailash Parbat. The sacred mountain was mostly hidden with clouds most part of the day. Also, I feel the fresh snowfall at Kailash Parvat made us see these images. The snow falling at right places could have formed these images with clear lines. And even if humans were able to climb atop Kailash Parvat, it would be an impossible task to draw clean lines at such high altitude and inhospitable terrain. I mean, have you ever heard of anyone making carvings at Kilimanjaro of Africa? Or even Mount Everest in Nepal for that matter! What makes it even more interesting is that all the carvings which are seen on the Mount Kailash are those of highly revered Gods and Goddesses from the Hindu pantheon. These carvings which are visible to humans and any regular devotee are concentrated on the North face of Kailash. This is located right opposite to the guesthouse in Deraphuk and the famous Deraphuk monastery. I have written in detail below about which larger than life carvings I saw on Kailash Parvat. Carving of Ganesh Ji on Kailash Parbat I had also clearly seen two images of Ganesh Bhagwan, the son of Shiv ji on Kailash Parvat. Towards the bottom right, and image of Ganesh ji in standing position was clearly visible. This image was one of the most prominent as it looked so well carved. It seemed as if someone had actually made this image with hands. I had of course, seen this carving of Ganesh ji on Kailash Parvat from a distance. In reality, the carving would have been much larger than what we saw. An elephant head on a human body, complete with hands and legs was visible to not only me but all the devotees who were present there. Just above this standing image of Ganesh ji, I also saw a beautifully carved head of an elephant, which also represented Ganesh ji. This elephant head was located to the top right most corner of the summit of Kailash Parvat. The lines were so cleanly drawn that again it appeared like some one had climbed all the way to the top of the mountain to draw the elephant face. It was one of the best moments of my life. Other people who had also witnessed along with me were also overjoyed and emotional when they saw these carvings on Kailash Parvat. The carvings of both the face of elephant head as well as Ganesh ji in standing position are located on the North face of Kailash Parvat. We saw it right outside our shared guest house in Deraphuk. Carving of Hanuman Ji on Kailash Parbat I also saw an image of Hanuman ji right below the pindi of Mata Vaishno Devi. Like other images, this image was also visible on the North face of Kailash Parvat. The image was that of a face with eyes, nose and mouth. It looked like the face of Hanuman ji for sure. This image is also located towards the left of the north face of Kailash Parvat. Soul Window Observation It is not the first time that I have seen image of Hanuman ji on a mountain. I was humbled when I saw the image of Hanuman ji on a mountain in Mechuka in Arunachal Pradesh. Located in the beautiful North East India, the clearly visible face of Hanuman ji in Mechuka was surrounded by dense green forest. Doesn’t it seem like a divine intervention that only the face of Hanuman ji was not covered with greenery? The eyes, nose and mouth were clearly visible. I visited Mechuka just after my trip to Basar. Picture of Hanuman ji during Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Did you know that one person clicked picture of Hindu God Hanuman ji during Kailash Mansarovar Yatra? However, the person died after taking the picture. He was one of the three people who were doing the pilgrimage of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. He was a big devotee of Hanuman ji and used to worship him all day. He was curious to know the real form of Hanuman ji. While visiting Mansarovar Lake, he had seen a mysterious looking langur monkey walking towards the Himalayas. They tried to follow him but failed to reach him. After this, they searched for Hanuman ji in mountains and caves. He suddenly saw light coming from one cave. He took out his camera and tried to take a picture. He had died on the spot after taking the picture. His body was taken to hospital and even the doctors were surprised by this unnatural death. Later, his friends, developed the reel of the camera into images. They were shocked to see the image of Hanuman ji reading Ramayan. It is well-known that Bajrang Bali is immortal and He still roams the Earth. There are certain places where it is said that Hanuman ji stays. Gandhmadan Parvat is one of them. Gandhmadan Parvat is located towards the north of Kailash Parvat. The fact that Gandhmadan Parvat is the abode of Hanuman ji is also mentioned in Puran and many ancient Hindu scriptures. Why did Hanuman ji choose Gandhmadan Parvat as his abode? According to Shrimad Bhagwat Puran, whenShri Ram was going to Baikunth Dham from earth, he asked Hanuman ji to stay back on Earth. This is the place where Shri Ram and Hanuman ji made plans to attack Lanka with other monkeys in vanar sena. It is said that footprints of Shri Ram can still be seen here. Maharishi Kashyap had also did tapasya (penance) here. Many Rishi, Muni, apsara and kinnar also live here. Gandhmadan Parvat is called so because many medicinal plants and herbs are found here, due to which a pleasant fragrance can always be experienced here. This is why Hanuman ji choose Gandhmadan Parvat as his abode. There is a Hindu temple here where Shri Ram and Hanuman ji are worshipped. Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta also mentions about Gandhmadan Parvat. There is a chapter where the meeting of Pandava with Hanuman ji is also mentioned. As we know Mahabharat happened much later than Ramayana. While Mahabharat happened in the third Yuga, Dwapar Yuga, events of Ramayan unfolded in the second Yuga or Treta Yuga as per Hindu History. There is a huge gap between the two Yuga, so it is very curious to know that the Pandavas from Mahabharat met Hanuman ji of Ramayan. There is another Gandhmadan Parvat in the holy city of Rameshwaram in Tamilnadu in South India. This is the place from where Hanuman ji jumped to reach Lanka or the present Sri Lanka. Carving of Damru Apart from the Om Symbol and Swastika symbol, many other symbols of divinity and spirituality which are associated with Hindu Gods and Goddesses have also been observed around sundown, in and around Mt Kailash. Om Symbol or Om Parbat at Mount Kailash Having grown up as a Hindu, I have been taught that the sound of Om is highly revered in Hindu scriptures. The sound of Om is after all the first sound of the universe. This symbol of ultimate reality is highly sacred. Om, after all is the vibration of the universe. Some people have observed the symbol of Om or AUM on Kailash Mountain. The Om symbol on Kailash Parbat looks like ? in the Devanagari script. The Om symbol is formed when the snow falls on the peak. So, it may not be always visible to the naked eye. Interestingly, the snow falls in the shape of Om or ? symbol in Devanagari script. The huge ice trough and horizontal rock formations towards the summit of the Kailash Parvat displays the sacred Om symbol. This embodiment of the presence of Shiv ji is to be seen to be believed! This is a major secret of Kailash Parbat which is yet to be solved. The Om symbol can be viewed from the southern direction of the ridge. I don’t know any other place where such a unique Om symbol is formed in a natural way due to the deposition of snow. Do not miss the Om Parvat. Whispers at Kailash Mountain in night Some people have claimed that they hear strange whispers coming from Kailash Parvat during night. In fact, this Mount Kailash mystery is also documented in a book written by Dr. Ernst Muldashif. He has elucidated on the strange whispers which can be heard coming from the silent manger of Kailash Mountain. Dr. Muldashif, who shared these findings after much research was a Russian. Is it because some people or even some beings in unidentified forms still live there? Humanity is still trying to find a concrete answer to this frequently asked question. On another night Dr Ernst Muldashev and his team members heard an eerie sound of falling stone which appeared like it came from inside the Kailash Parvat. As per Dr Ernst Muldashev, it is very much possible that still some living beings reside inside the pyramid of holy Mount Kailash. Is there a Shivling in Mount Kailash? During Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, I personally did not see or worship any Shivlinga since there are no Hindu temple in West Tibet. Hindu people believe that Kailash Parbat itself it a Shivalinga. In fact, Kailash Mountain is the tallest Shivalinga in the world. Well, it continues to be a Mount Kailash mystery. Satellite View of Kailash Parvat As per the satellite view image of Kailash Parvat, we can clearly see the shadow side of the Kailash Himalaya which resembles the smiling visage of Shiva Bhagwan. This smiling face of Shiva Bhagwan is seen on the Google Earth image as well. Is it impossible to climb Mount Kailash? Yes, no one except the famous 11th century Tibetan poet Milarepa has ever been able to climb Kailash Peak. While many famous Russian and European mountaineers attempted to climb Kailash Parvat, none of them succeeded. Ascending the great Kailash is impossible! Some even died during or after the attempt. It is said that most climbers experience disorientation, misleading paths and even shifting of the sacred mountain. Later, the Chinese government completely banned any climbing activity on Mount Kailash in the early 2000s. This mystery of Mount Kailash has been a topic of discussion since a long time. Soul Window thoughts I personally feel that even if it was allowed to climb Kailash Parvat, one should not. It is sacrilege to even think of climbing the holy mountain. One should respect the sentiments of Hindus, Buddhists, Bon people, Jains and Sikhs. I have written in detail on this topic on another blog. Do read my blog on why people are unable to climb Mount Kailash. Does the Kailash Parbat Move? Yes, it is said that the Kailash Parbat keeps moving and changing its position. This is also the reason why the trekkers who attempted to climb the summit of Kailash Parbat have failed because due to the movement of Kailash Mountain, the trekkers are often disoriented or start trekking on misleading tracks. I have not heard of any other mountain which changes its contours constantly. The mystery of Kailash Mountain deepens! Does Mount Kailash keep moving? The Kailash Parbat is also known to change its position from time to time. It has happened several times that climbers have lost their way or are misled due to a change in position of the mysterious mountain. No one has been able to solve this mystery of Mount Kailash. Mount Kailash Drone What is visible when one flies the drone around Kailash Parvat? Can we fly drones around Kailash Mountain? No, it is strictly prohibited to fly drones around Kailash Parbat. Can helicopter land on Mount Kailash? It is impossible for a helicopter to land on Mount Kailash. Having said that, as per the latest developments, you can enter West Tibet from the hilly terrains of Nepal from a helicopter via Hilsa and Simikot. This is great for those who have less time. The first place where devotees stay after coming from this route is Taklakote which is also known as Burang or Purang. Can Plane fly over Mount Kailash? The answer to this frequently asked question about Kailash Parbat is a big NO! There are many reasons which are attributed for this unique rule. Ranging from diplomatic relationship between Indian and China, technical issue or supernatural phenomenon are some of them. The highest cruising altitude at which the planes are allowed to fly range between 25,000 to 35,000 feet. There are many tall mountains around the Kailash range aka Gangdisê Mountains and Transhimalaya mountain range in the Ngari Prefecture of West Tibet, due to which flights are avoided here. Mysterious city of Shambala: Mystery of Mount Kailash It is one of those secrets of Kailash Parvat which has been debated since a long time. As per the Tibetan Gurus, the region around Kailash Parbat has supernatural powers which cannot be described. In fact, the Tibetans also believe that the mysterious city of Shambala is also located in the region around Kailash Parvat. As per the Buddhist beliefs, the Siddha and ascetic people still live in the mysterious Shambala city. Mystery of Kailash is bottomless. Mysterious Effects of Kailash Parbat during full moon It is a best kept Mount Kailash secret that the holy Kailash Parvat is the center for the annual Scorpio full moon event. This event is the exact culmination time of the Scorpio full moon. But what makes it so special? When a devotee meditates next near Kailash Parvat during the Scorpio full moon, he can find clarity in his life through deep meditation or enlightenment. Such is the effect and power of meditating near Kailash Parbat during full moon night. Is Kailash Parbat same as Mount Meru? Since times immemorial, followers of Hinduism or Sanatan Dharm and Buddhism, the sacred Kailash Parvat has remained the physical embodiment of Mount Meru. As per both Hindu and Buddhist faiths, Kailash Parbat is the prototype of Mount Meru, the center of the world. Is Mount Kailash radioactive? Mount Kailash radiation is still being explored by the scientists. Radio-active energies by pyramids around Mt. Kailash has been observed by many modern-day scientists. Beyond the spiritual energy, Kailash Parbat also exudes a certain energy which makes it a nuclear power. As per a version of the story regarding Mount Kailash radiation, in the Treta Yug when event from the Hindu epic Ramaya?a unfolded, the demon king of Lanka, Ravan attempted to take back Mount Kailash to his kingdom in what in now known as Sri Lanka. Despite incessant efforts and attempts, Ravan was unable to lift Kailash Parbat and transport it to Lanka. It is interesting to note that despite being a powerful King who had all that he wanted, Ravan was adamant on uprooting Kailash Parbat and taking it back to Lanka. “What could have been his motivation to do the same”, I wonder? Is it not possible that Kailash Mountain was a nuclear power plant which Ravan was determined to get his control on by hook or by crook? Despite his failure, Ravan had come in direct contact with the radioactive source. While bathing in the nearby Rakshastal or demon lake, he ended up mixing the nuclear residue with the water of Rakshastal. The ill effects of radiation are still observed in the Rakshas Taal. This is why, all the devotees do not visit Rakshas Tal, fearing that bathing in its water will disfigure them. Ravana carried nuclear residue which was left in Lake Rakshas Taal after he bathed in it. Now whoever bathes in radioactive water will get disfigured due to ill effects of radiation. Did you know about this Kailash Mansarovar mystery? Philip Coppens has also mentioned that Kailash Parbat holds the potential to be a radioactive nuclear power plant. Not many know that it has also been debated often if people of the ancient civilization in Mohendojaro were annihilated due to the nuclear emission from Mount Kailash. It has remained a theory and nothing has been proved as yet. This remains one of the biggest mysteries of Mount Kailash. Mystery of Yam Dwar Located at Tarboche, Yam Dwar near Darchen is where the parikrama for Mount Kailash begins from. “The Gateway of God of Death”. Yam Dwar which is also called as Chorten Kang Ngyi, the literal meaning of which is two-legged stupa in Tibetan language, is a mysterious place. Connected to the heaven and soul, Hindus are strictly warned that once they have crossed Yam Dwar during parikrama around Kailash Parvat, they should not look back at the gate as it may bring ill luck. No one knows the scientific reason behind this. Do read my blog on Yam Dwar for a deeper understanding of this mysterious phenomenon. Mount Kailash Nasa What did NASA find in Mount Kailash? A United States of America based space agency known as Nasa did deep research on Kailash Parvat using Google Earth and satellites between the years 2015 and 2016. The scientists of Nasa wanted to know why no one has been able to climb Mount Kailash yet or even fly a plane or land a helicopter on it. The footage that they received shocked people. This NASA satellite view on Google Earth dated 2016 went viral. People were taken by surprise when the Shiva Face was observed on the Mount Kailash. In fact, the shadow which Kailash Parvat cast resulted in many different faces of Shiv Bhagwan. Mount Kailash as Mani Kailash Parbat is like a Mani. Ruby, Lapis Lazuli, Gold and Crystal is what Kailash Parbat is made up of. This is another talked about mystery of Mount Kailash. Mystery of the Cross Mark I had not noticed it during Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, but I heard some people saying that a giant cross symbol is made with a groove and gauge on the holy Kailash Parvat. The groove can be seen on the waist of Kailash Parbat. People say that the groove is the mark of the snake which sits around the neck of Shiva Bhagwan. On the other hand, gouge is the remnant of a war between Milarepa and Naro Bönchung who waged a battle aeon ago for the control of Kailash Mansarovar. Mount Kailash Pyramid Is Mount Kailash a Pyramid? As per Mohan Bhatt, a Mumbai based Sanskrit scholar, even in the Hindu epic Ramayana, the Kailash Parbat is referred to as the pyramid. The same has also been mentioned in the ancient vedas. Centuries before the Russian scientists claimed the same, the Hindus had already mentioned it in Ramayana. Even to a layman, the signs of human intervention or unnatural occurrence around Kailash Parvat is more than obvious. The perfect shape of Kailash Parbat makes it stand out from any other mountain on Earth. This is what separates Kailash Parvat from other mountains. It was Dr Ernst Muldashev, a Russian ophthalmologist based in Ufa, who famously claimed that Kailash Parvat is indeed an ancient manmade pyramid which is surrounded from all sides by much smaller pyramids and has mysterious links with the famous pyramids of Giza in Egypt and Teotihuacan. However, the claims made by Muldashev’s were dismissed by the Chinese authorities and scientists3 years later in an official Chinese Press. He said that Kailash Parbat is directly connected with the other grand man-made pyramids we know on Earth. As per his claims, pyramids were constructed by ancient people who had way more advanced knowledge and civilization. Those mysterious people were well versed with the laws of subtle energy. It was year 1999, when the Ernst Muldashev, a reputed Russian ophthalmologist embarked upon an unprecedented expedition to the western part of Tibet. His main objective was to unravel the secrets and mysteries that surround Kailash Parvat. He had a robust team which comprised of trained experts in the field of physics, history, science and geology. It was a serious expedition which involved meeting many Tibetan lamas. The team had in fact stayedclose to Kailash Mountain for many months so that they could complete their study and research holistically. Nicholas Roerich has also written extensively on Kailash Parvat. In fact, not many know that one of his most famous paintings actually depicts the path which leads to Kailash Mountain. No wonder, Russians, along with Hindus from India have been fascinated with this mysterious mountain since aeon. As per the deep research done by Dr Ernst Muldashev and his team mates from Russia, Kailash Parbat is unlike any other mountain either in its vicinity or elsewhere. As per the qualified Russian scientists, Kailash Parbat is very symmetrical in shape which is not how naturally formed mountains look like. They concluded that Kailash Mountain is indeed a pyramid which was built by humans in ancient times. The perfect shape of Mt. Kailash make it stand apart from other peaks of the world. From any angle, it doesn’t look like a naturally occurring mountain. The team also claimed that Kailash Parvat is a center of all paranormal activities. From a distance, the pyramidal Kailash Parbat looks like a Hindu temple with a shikhar! Some also say it looks like a cathedral. The perpendicular side region of the mountain gives it striking similarity with that of the shape of a pyramid. This is also why Kailash Parbat is also called as the “Biggest Man-made Pyramid on Planet Earth”! Sheer drop of hundreds of feet has been observed at the sides. The strata is horizontal while the color of several layers of stone is subtly differing. What’s more? Even the distinct dividing lines are clearly visible. What if someone very tall built this huge pyramid with his bare giant hands by placing one colossal block of reddish black stone one atop the other. The same was also said by G.C. Rawling in The Great Plateau, London, 1905. In fact, more than 100 small pyramids are also located around the Kailash Parbat. Mt. Kailash sits right in the center of this entire complex which is made up of several smaller pyramids. I leave it to you, whether you want to see Kailash Parvat as a majestic creation of nature or a man-made pyramid! You can also compare the Pyramid of Kailash with Pyramid of Teotihuacan and pyramid of Giza. This world–wide system of interconnected pyramids needs to be probed further by unbiased scientists. Did you know that Mount Shasta, the sacred mountain of California in USA is often linked to Kailash Parbat? Is Kailash Parbat like a compass? I have covered all the aspects of the mystery of Kailash Mountain in this exhaustive guide based on my own travel. It is also said that the pyramidal Kailash Parbat is also like a compass which tells the direction of places. I hope you are enjoying all the research based, deep insights I am explaining in this information packed article. No old school and traditional guide books have shared these lesser-known facts about Mount Kailash. For some unknown reason, the mainstream media also shies from publishing these facts. Is there vacuum inside Kailash Parbat? As per the scientists if this man-made pyramid has vacuum or not still remains an unsolved Kailash Parvat mystery. The top of the Kailash Parbat, according to scientists is a vacuum. It is presently estimated by scientists that the direct height of the pyramid complex ranges is between 328 feet to 5,905 feet or 100 and 1,800 meters. If we compare this to the tallest of Egyptian Pyramids in the north-east corner of the African continent, then we are talking about man-made pyramids of Egypt which are only 479 feet or 146 meter tall. This makes Kailash Parbat larger than any other known pyramid in the world. Soul Window Observations I had myself never seen a mountain as unique as Kailash Parbat. I looked at each and every mountain around the Kailash Mansarovar region in Tibet and none of them looked like Mount Kailash from any angle. I have also done many high-altitude treks such as Dodital Darwa Pass Trek near the sacred Yamunotri and Roopkund Trek in Uttarakhand. In Bhutan and Nepal as well, I did epic treks such as Tiger’s Nest Monastery trek, Everest Base Camp Trek and Poonhill Trek but never sawany mountain as shapely asKailash Parbat. Age of Kailash Parbat How old is Mount Kailash? Did you know that Kailash Parvat has existed at the same spot since lakhs of years? The age of Kailash Parbat is a whooping 30 million years or 3 crore years. For more such free information, subscribe to my blog A Soul Window. I have been listed as the most successful travel blogger in India many times. Mysterious Supernatural energy of Kailash Parbat There is a certain mystic energy around the Kailash Parbat which no one has been able to understand yet. Not many know that Meru Parvat, which is shaped like a pyramid is born out of possessed technical expertise of unidentified superhuman divine beings which we do not understand because we are accustomed to recognize only physical beings. Did aliens create Kailash Parbat? Some people say that a supernatural energy was behind the creation of Kailash Parbat. It is possible that the miraculous Kailash Pyramids was perhaps created by an advanced civilization which we do not know about due to our limited knowledge and limited imagination. Probably that lost civilization was well versed with the subtle laws of energy such as the twist field. Perhaps they were some undocumented aliens who knew how to gain control on time and energy. Time Travel: Is ageing accelerated at Mount Kailash This is another unsolved Kailash Parvat mystery. Does time flies faster in Mount Kailash? Does hair and nail grow faster near Kailash Mountain? The air around the sacred Mount Meru or Kailash Parbat is known for speeding up the process of ageing! Kailash range is that vortex of energy where several mysterious events keep happening, including the unexplained transtemporal travel. Many people have experienced rapid aging process around Kailash range region. Some have also claimed that the aging process is accelerated even after returning back to home from Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. In the past, several tourists, devotes and pilgrims noticed that their hair and nails grew by a few millimeters at unprecedented pace after they came back from Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. For example, if it takes 2 weeks to grow the nail and hair till a certain length in normal circumstances, then it can take just 12 hours to grow the same amount around Kailash Parbat. There is a popular instance from the past which few know about. It is a little-known fact about Mount Kailash. Once upon a time, a group of climbers who had Siberian origin had ventures far in the Kailash region. It is said that these climbers rapidly aged. They had grown by a few decades while their contemporaries who had not been to Tibet grew at normal pace. In a shockingly turn of events, all the trekkers from this Siberian team had passed away due to unnatural old age, just a year later! This is why not many people dare to trespassing the forbidden line even today! This unusual leap of age has amazed scientists since times immemorial. What is inside Mount Kailash Several mysterious activities have been observed at the peak of Mount Kailash. The sacred Kailash Parbat is composed of granite. Many say that Kailash Parbat is hollow from inside. The theory which says that there is vacuum inside Kailash Parvat is also common. Dr Ernst Muldashev, a Russian ophthalmologist who is based in the Ufa city of Russia had camped around Mount Kailash and noticed many strange phenomena. You can read more on Dr Ernst Muldashev in the section ‘Is Kailash Parbat a pyramid?’ On one of the silent nights, Dr Ernst Muldashev often noticed unusual gasping sound right inside the Kailash Parvat. After his extensive research and study of Kailash Parbat, he shared many unusual facts about Mount Kailash in his academic paper. Dr Ernst Muldashev is also the author of Where Do We Come From? He was born in the year 1948. He also runs the Alloplant Russian Eye and Plastic Surgery Center in the Ufa city of Russia. His expedition team to Mount Kailash and the mystical city of Shambala was called as RATT or Russian Adventure Travel Team. Thisevent wasorganized by the Russian Geographical Society in association with Komsomolskaya Pravda. Match with spatial structure of DNA molecules Dr Ernst Muldashev also found out many other strange facts about Kailash Parbat. He admitted that it was not at all easy for him to talk about Kailash Parbat from the prism of the limited modern science. However, he claimed that Kailash Parvat and the surrounding region not just stood there but had an important role to play, especially because it shares an undeniable relationship with the life on planet Earth as we know it. When Dr Ernst Muldashev did a schematic mapping of the Kailash Mountain and the region surrounding it, he was surprised with the findings. The mapping also included stone mirrors and pyramids. What astonished him was the discovery that the scheme turned out to be quite identical with the spatial structure of DNA molecules. The secret Lotus Symbol Kailash Mountain which is also known as the pillar of the world, sits pretty like a lotus flower. In Hinduism or Sanatan Dharm, lotus is considered as a very auspicious flower. Kailash Mountain, which is situated in the heart of six mountain ranges, sits pretty as a symbol of the lotus flower. Axis Mundi: Is Mount Kailash the center of Earth? This is the most talked about Mt Kailash mystery. In India, we call Earth as Mother Earth. We even address our nation as Mother India or Bharat Mata. India is a society which always keeps women ahead of men. India is essentially a society with equal rights for men and women. This is why our ancestors considered Planet Earth as the ‘Great Mother’. As per the ancient Hindu texts, there have been many references where Mount Kailash is represented as cosmic axis. It has been scientifically proven several times that Kailash Parbat is the Axis Mundi. Axis Mundiis also known as the center of the world, cosmic axis, the world tree, world axis or the world pillar. It is also clearly mentioned in the ancient Hindu scriptures Vedas and Hindu Epic Ramayan that Kailash Mountain is indeed the cosmic axis. The same has also been proven through the Google Maps. As per the Hindu faith, this cosmic axis is also the place where the heaven meets planet earth. The rich and intelligent ancestors of Hindus constructed megalithic sacred monuments in regions which they concluded were ‘Earth Chakras’ or ‘Earth’s Highest Energy Vortexes’. The sacrosanct Kailash Parvat, which is located in the Trans-Himalayan range is also the 7th Chakra of Planet Earth. Kailash Parbat is a less talked about centre of a worldwide system which connects various energy sites and mystical sites from different parts of the globe. Some of these energy zones are the Mexican Pyramids, great Pyramids of Egypt, North Pole, Stonehenge and the Easter Island. Together, these mystical sites form a global energy grid system. It is said that Kailash Parbat is connected to these monuments. Several scientists from nations such as Russia and Unites States of America have done various studies and after much research came to the conclusion that Kailash Parbat is indeed the axis mundi or center of the Planet Earth. It is a little-known fact about Mount Kailash which even the devotees have no idea about. It has also been established that Stonehenge in England is located exactly 6,666 kilometers from Mt. Kailash and North Pole is also located only 6,666 kilometers from Mount Kailash. The distance between the South Pole and Kailash Parbat is 13,332 kilometers. It is curious to see that the distance between Mt. Kailash and South Pole is exactly twice the distance of Kailash Parbat with the North Pole or Stonehenge. Isn’t that an amazing fact about Mount Kailash? I am sure you had no idea about this. I had verified these distances and facts about Mount Kailash on Google as well and I concluded that it was actually true. There was no sophisticated equipment in those day. I wonder how the ancient Hindu scientists were able to measure the distances so accurately! This is the reason why Kailash Parbat, which is also the axis of rotation of the celestial sphere has attracted scientists from all over the world for deeper studies and research on the unusual activities observed in this region. In fact, it is this axis of the Earth which maintains the atmosphere and keeps all living organisms alive. This is why, Kailash Parbat is also known as Navel of the Universe. Soul Window Observations While visiting the hilly Kumaun region of Uttarakhand in North India, I had planned to visit the offbeat Kasar Devi Temple. Not many Indians know that only three places in the world experience the Van Allen Effect which is a strong geo magnetic field. Kasar Devi, Stonehenge and Machu Pichu in Peru of South America are the only 3 places where the mysterious Van Allen Belt has been observed. It is high time India should value such energy spaces. In old days, Swami Vivekananda used to meditate at Kasar Devi. During this trip I also visited Almora, Jhoola Devi Temple in Ranikhet, Majhkhali, Lakhudiyar Caves, Golu Devta Temple, Nanda Devi Temple, Kaichi Dham, Jageshwar and Dandeshwar Mandir, and Katarmal Surya Mandir etc. You can read my detailed blogs on these tourist places of attraction. Secret underground cities of Kailash Range I am sure no one told you about the 2 secret dungeons in the Kailash Mountain range area. These mysterious dungeons are known as Agartha and Shambhala. These secret branches of advanced human civilizations originate from the Himalayas and Gobi Desert respectively. This is a lesser-known mystery of Kailash Mountain. Miraculous source of 4 Rivers Until I visited Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage, I had no idea that Kailash Parbat and the sacred Manasarovar Lake are the source of great Asian Rivers such as the majestic Brahmaputra, Indus River, Karnali, Ganga and Sutlej River. These are some of the most voluptuous and longest rivers of Asian continent. The strange thing is that despite the fact that though these majestic rivers are situated in the same geographical location, they flow in various directions. However, what I found most amusing is the fact that after these rivers snake for thousands of kilometers, they arrive at a common destination which is Indian Ocean. I find this phenomenon very poetic and mysterious at the same time. Mt Kailash Mystery of snow humans There is a reason why Yogis from Hindu faith and other religions have chosen Kailash for Enlightenment? There is a reason why some mysterious snow humans still live around Kailash Parbat and do kadi tapasya or penance! This mystery of Mount Kailash has many believers. Sound of Damru and Om Some people have also claimed that the sound of ? or Om comes from Kailash Parbat. Some scientist also claim that this sound is actually the sound of melting snow. It is said that when sound and light meet, then the sound of Om is produced. Soul Window Thoughts Hinduism is a pluralist culture unlike the monotheistic Abrahamic religions. Hinduism is also the most ancient way of life or religion of the world. Hinduism doesn’t look down upon apostles and atheists. Everyone has the right to debate and question the religious differences of Hinduism and that’s the beauty of it! Storing of knowledge by Shiv Bhagwan and Rishabhanatha As per the Hindu faith, Shiv Bhagwan has stored the rare knowledge of enlightenment at Kailash Parbat in a special energy form. The Buddhist and Jains have similar philosophy. As per the people of Jain community of India, Rishabhanatha, the first Jain Tirthankara had also stored the knowledge and truth of enlightenment at Mt Kailash. As per Buddhism, the 3 major bodhisattvas viz. Guanyin Bodhisattva, Vajrasattva Bodhisattva, and Manjushri Bodhisattva reside in Kailash Mountain. Mystery of number 4 Number 4 is a recurrent theme in and around Kailash Parbat. Let us have a look at some of them below: There are 4 prominent faces of Kailash Parvat Mount Kailash mystery is still researched upon by scientists. Did you know that Mount Kailash is a staircase between heaven and Planet Earth? This theory is believed by the people who follow Hinduism, Buddhism and the Jain faith. We all know that famous episode towards the denouement of the Hindu epic Mahabharat. Kailash Parbat was the place where Pandava brothers and their wife Draupadi climb hoping to attain moksha or liberation as they trekked towards the peak on the way to Swarg lok or heaven. As is widely known, everyone except one of them had slipped off before even arriving at the summit of the peak. Yudhishthira was the only person who did not fall off the cliff. Everyone else fell off the mountain because Yudhishthira was the only one who was allowed entry in the door of heaven. At Kailash Mountain, the eerie connection of the spiritual world with physical world is palpable. The fact that Kailash Parvat is a link between Earth and heaven has also been elucidated in the vedas, the ancient Hindu scriptures. Such amazing facts about Mount Kailash are not known to many people. Mystery of caves and monasteries near Mount Kailash The Mongolians have also claimed that certain extraterrestrial beings live in and around Kailash Parvat or Mount Meru. These beings are beyond the understanding of modern humans, no matter how much scientific progress they have made. It is possible that a certain energy which exudes from Kailash Parvat supports the life of these beings. Secret Caves: Home of holy souls Do sadhus live near Kailash Mansarovar? Let me tell you about this Kailash Mountain secret. As per the ancient Hindu and Buddhist scriptures, very old caves and monasteries still exist around Kailash Parbat. This is where the sadhus or the holy Hindu saints still stay in their physical and subtle bodies. Only lucky few have been able to see the mysterious caves yet. Mysterious lights of Mansarovar Lake This is the biggest Kailash Mansarovar Lake mystery! Several times mysterious lights have been observed above Mansarovar lake. This miracle takes place between 2:30 a.m. and 3:45 a.m. daily. These mysterious lights are Hindu Gods. During the auspicious Brahma Muhurat, God descend on the sacred Manasarovar Lake and have bath. I myself tried to see these mysterious lights at the placid lake in night. Do read my blog about my experience of trying to see mysterious lights of Mansarovar. Such Kailash Mansarovar secrets should be researched more on, I feel. Yin Yang energy of Manasarovar Lake and Rakshastal While the water of Mansarovar lake always remain placid throughout the day, irrespective of the fact that the weather conditions are windy or not, on the other hand, the water of the adjacent demon lake or Rakshastal is said to be frequently turbulent. Mysteries of Kailash Mansarovar can be easily observed here. While the Mansarovar Lake is freshwater lake and full of life, its next-door neighbour the salty Rakshastal is devoid of any marine, bird or aquatic life. The two lakes stand as a symbol of good and bad in the lap of Kailash Parbat. There are many Manasarovar Lake mysteries. No one has been able to solve this Mount Kailash mystery yet. Do read my complete blog on the mystery of Mansarovar Lake and major differences between the Mansarovar Lake and Rakshastal. Nowhere else in the world, another such example exists! The round shape of Mansarovar lake represents Sun or positive/brightness while the crescent shape of Rakshastal resembles the moon or negative energy/darkness. It stands as a symbol of good and evil existing next to each other. This also is a reiteration of the fact that both good and evil exists in same person. In a way, it establishes that the evil resides within us and not outside of us. It is customary to take a holy dip in the water of Mansarovar Lake before performing the epic parikrama around Kailash Parvat. Kailash Parbat stands as the balance between the two mysterious lakes. Conclusion: Will the mystery of Kailash Parbat be ever solved? Someone said this long time ago, “Universe is under no obligation to make sense to humans.” I feel it is entirely true. We humans, in our ego start living under the delusion that we have mastered the field of science. Th truth is that humans still do not know much about planet Earth. We have not even been able to dig much deeper in Earth. Nor have we even been able to identify and classify all the physical living beings on Earth, whether ocean or land. From the depth of the seas to the top of the mountains, much is yet to be discovered and understood. I also feel not everything can be explained by science as we know it. We must surrender to the supreme God and accept things the way they are. While the mystery of Mount Kailash remains unsolved, believing in the unbelievable, can be liberating if you have the courage to do that! While the self-proclaimed freethinkers and liberals may dismiss the miracles of Kailash Parbat as mere coincidences but for crores of devout Hindu, Buddhist, Bon, Sikh and Jain, Kailash Parbat is a beautiful creation of God. We are perhaps an incapable species, who failed to decipher and understand a higher intelligence, energy or power. The hidden intelligence which remains hidden from the human eye, perhaps doesn’t want to reveal itself. Being the most powerful place on Earth, Kailash Parbat is a centre of many faiths. There is place for only surrender and belief at Kailash Parbat, if only we can drop our ego, identify the illusion and see the reality.

Mintaka /'m?nt?k?/, designation Delta Orionis (d Orionis, abbreviated Delta Ori, d Ori) and 34 Orionis (34 Ori), is a multiple star system some 1,200 light-years from the Sun in the constellation of Orion. Together with Alnitak (Zeta Orionis) and Alnilam (Epsilon Orionis), the three stars form Orion's Belt, known by many … One of the most obvious features people see in Orion is the three stars that make up what most people consider the belt of the giant. Mintaka , the westernmost star in the belt, comes from the Arabic word for belt. Alnilam, the center star in the belt, means "a belt of pearls". And Alnitak, the eastern-most star, means the girdle. All three are at the same distance from us and, with Rigel, Saiph, and Meissa, probably formed at about the same time some ten million years ago from the molecular clouds astronomers have found in Orion. Orion's Belt - Wikipedia Wikipedia Orion is a prominent constellation located on the celestial equator and visible throughout the world. It is one of the most conspicuous[1] and recognizable constellations in the night sky.[2] It is named after Orion, a hunter in Greek mythology. Its brightest stars are the blue-white Rigel (Beta Orionis) and the red Betelgeuse (Alpha Orionis). Orion is bordered by Taurus to the northwest, Eridanus to the southwest, Lepus to the south, Monoceros to the east, and Gemini to the northeast. Covering 594 square degrees, Orion ranks twenty-sixth of the 88 constellations in size. The constellation boundaries, as set by Belgian astronomer Eugène Delporte in 1930, are defined by a polygon of 26 sides. In the equatorial coordinate system, the right ascension coordinates of these borders lie between 04h 43.3m and 06h 25.5m , while the declination coordinates are between 22.87° and -10.97°.[3] The constellation's three-letter abbreviation, as adopted by the International Astronomical Union in 1922, is "Ori".[4] Orion is most visible in the evening sky from January to April,[5] winter in the Northern Hemisphere, and summer in the Southern Hemisphere. In the tropics (less than about 8° from the equator), the constellation transits at the zenith. In the period May–July (summer in the Northern Hemisphere, winter in the Southern Hemisphere), Orion is in the daytime sky and thus invisible at most latitudes. However, for much of Antarctica in the Southern Hemisphere's winter months, the Sun is below the horizon even at midday. Stars (and thus Orion, but only the brightest stars) are then visible at twilight for a few hours around local noon, just in the brightest section of the sky low in the North where the Sun is just below the horizon. At the same time of day at the South Pole itself (Amundsen–Scott South Pole Station), Rigel is only 8° above the horizon, and the Belt sweeps just along it. In the Southern Hemisphere's summer months, when Orion is normally visible in the night sky, the constellation is actually not visible in Antarctica because the sun does not set at that time of year south of the Antarctic Circle.[6][7] In countries close to the equator (e.g., Kenya, Indonesia, Colombia, Ecuador), Orion appears overhead in December around midnight and in the February evening sky. Orion's seven brightest stars form a distinctive hourglass-shaped asterism, or pattern, in the night sky. Four stars—Rigel, Betelgeuse, Bellatrix, and Saiph—form a large roughly rectangular shape, at the center of which lies the three stars of Orion's Belt—Alnitak, Alnilam, and Mintaka. His head is marked by an additional 8th star called Meissa, which is fairly bright to the observer. Descending from the "belt" is a smaller line of three stars, Orion's Sword (the middle of which is in fact not a star but the Orion Nebula), also known as the hunter's sword. Many of the stars are luminous hot blue supergiants, with the stars of the belt and sword forming the Orion OB1 association. Standing out by its red hue, Betelgeuse may nevertheless be a runaway member of the same group. Stars of the constellation by distance (red-green 3D view) and the brightness of each star (star size) Just southwest of Alnitak lies Sigma Orionis, a multiple star system composed of five stars that have a combined apparent magnitude of 3.7 and lying 1150 light years distant. Southwest of Mintaka lies the quadruple star Eta Orionis. Sword Head Club Shield Meteor showers Deep-sky objects This view brings out many fainter features, such as Barnard's Loop. M78 (NGC 2068) is a nebula in Orion. With an overall magnitude of 8.0, it is significantly dimmer than the Great Orion Nebula that lies to its south; however, it is at approximately the same distance, at 1600 light-years from Earth. It can easily be mistaken for a comet in the eyepiece of a telescope. M78 is associated with the variable star V351 Orionis, whose magnitude changes are visible in very short periods of time.[21] Another fairly bright nebula in Orion is NGC 1999, also close to the Great Orion Nebula. It has an integrated magnitude of 10.5 and is 1500 light-years from Earth. The variable star V380 Orionis is embedded in NGC 1999.[22] Another famous nebula is IC 434, the Horsehead Nebula, near ? Orionis. It contains a dark dust cloud whose shape gives the nebula its name. NGC 2174 is an emission nebula located 6400 light-years from Earth. Besides these nebulae, surveying Orion with a small telescope will reveal a wealth of interesting deep-sky objects, including M43, M78, as well as multiple stars including Iota Orionis and Sigma Orionis. A larger telescope may reveal objects such as the Flame Nebula (NGC 2024), as well as fainter and tighter multiple stars and nebulae. Barnard's Loop can be seen on very dark nights or using long-exposure photography. All of these nebulae are part of the larger Orion molecular cloud complex, which is located approximately 1,500 light-years away and is hundreds of light-years across. It is one of the most intense regions of stellar formation visible within our galaxy. History and mythology Ancient Near East Orion (constellation) Art In ancient Egypt, the stars of Orion were regarded as a god, called Sah. Because Orion rises before Sirius, the star whose heliacal rising was the basis for the Solar Egyptian calendar, Sah was closely linked with Sopdet, the goddess who personified Sirius. The god Sopdu is said to be the son of Sah and Sopdet. Sah is syncretized with Osiris, while Sopdet is syncretized with Osiris' mythological wife, Isis. In the Pyramid Texts, from the 24th and 23rd centuries BC, Sah is one of many gods whose form the dead pharaoh is said to take in the afterlife.[28] The Armenians identified their legendary patriarch and founder Hayk with Orion. Hayk is also the name of the Orion constellation in the Armenian translation of the Bible.[29] The Bible mentions Orion three times, naming it "Kesil" (????, literally – fool). Though, this name perhaps is etymologically connected with "Kislev", the name for the ninth month of the Hebrew calendar (i.e. November–December), which, in turn, may derive from the Hebrew root K-S-L as in the words "kesel, kisla" (??????, ????????, hope, positiveness), i.e. hope for winter rains.: Job 9:9 ("He is the maker of the Bear and Orion"), Job 38:31 ("Can you loosen Orion's belt?"), and Amos 5:8 ("He who made the Pleiades and Orion"). In ancient Aram, the constellation was known as Nephîla', the Nephilim are said to be Orion's descendants.[30] Greco-Roman antiquity The constellation is mentioned in Horace's Odes (Ode 3.27.18), Homer's Odyssey (Book 5, line 283) and Iliad, and Virgil's Aeneid (Book 1, line 535) Middle East As depicted in the 962 A.D. Persian astronomical text Book of Fixed Stars China The Chinese character ? (pinyin shen) originally meant the constellation Orion (Chinese: ??; pinyin: shenxiù); its Shang dynasty version, over three millennia old, contains at the top a representation of the three stars of Orion's belt atop a man's head (the bottom portion representing the sound of the word was added later).[35] India Nataraja, 'the cosmic dancer', is often interpreted as the representation of Orion. Rudra, the Rigvedic form of Shiva, is the presiding deity of Ardra nakshatra (Betelgeuse) of Hindu astrology.[37] The Jain Symbol carved in Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves, India in 1st century BCE[38] has striking resemblance with Orion. Bugis sailors identified the three stars in Orion's Belt as tanra tellué, meaning "sign of three".[39] European folklore Star formation in the constellation Orion as photographed in infrared by NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope In Scandinavian tradition, "Orion's belt" was known as Frigg's Distaff (friggerock) or Freyja's distaff.[41] The Finns call Orion's belt and the stars below it Väinämöisen viikate (Väinämöinen's scythe).[42] Another name for the asterism of Alnilam, Alnitak and Mintaka is Väinämöisen vyö (Väinämöinen's Belt) and the stars "hanging" from the belt as Kalevanmiekka (Kaleva's sword). In Siberia, the Chukchi people see Orion as a hunter; an arrow he has shot is represented by Aldebaran (Alpha Tauri), with the same figure as other Western depictions.[43] Americas The same three stars are known in Spain and most of Latin America as "Las tres Marías" (Spanish for "The Three Marys"). In Puerto Rico, the three stars are known as the "Los Tres Reyes Magos" (Spanish for The three Wise Men).[45] The Ojibwa (Chippewa) Native Americans call this constellation Kabibona'kan, the Winter Maker, as its presence in the night sky heralds winter.[citation needed] To the Lakota Native Americans, Tayamnicankhu (Orion's Belt) is the spine of a bison. The great rectangle of Orion is the bison's ribs; the Pleiades star cluster in nearby Taurus is the bison's head; and Sirius in Canis Major, known as Tayamnisinte, is its tail. Another Lakota myth mentions that the bottom half of Orion, the Constellation of the Hand, represented the arm of a chief that was ripped off by the Thunder People as a punishment from the gods for his selfishness. His daughter offered to marry the person who can retrieve his arm from the sky, so the young warrior Fallen Star (whose father was a star and whose mother was human) returned his arm and married his daughter, symbolizing harmony between the gods and humanity with the help of the younger generation. The index finger is represented by Rigel; the Orion Nebula is the thumb; the Belt of Orion is the wrist; and the star Beta Eridani is the pinky finger.[46] Austronesian In Maori tradition, the star Rigel (known as Puanga or Puaka) is closely connected with the celebration of Matariki. The rising of Matariki (the Pleiades) and Rigel before sunrise in midwinter marks the start of the Maori year.[49] Contemporary symbolism The film distribution company Orion Pictures used the constellation as its logo.[52] Depictions Orion in the 9th century Leiden Aratea There are alternative ways to visualise Orion. From the Southern Hemisphere, Orion is oriented south-upward, and the belt and sword are sometimes called the saucepan or pot in Australia and New Zealand. Orion's Belt is called Drie Konings (Three Kings) or the Drie Susters (Three Sisters) by Afrikaans speakers in South Africa[53] and are referred to as les Trois Rois (the Three Kings) in Daudet's Lettres de Mon Moulin (1866). The appellation Driekoningen (the Three Kings) is also often found in 17th- and 18th-century Dutch star charts and seaman's guides. The same three stars are known in Spain, Latin America, and the Philippines as "Las Tres Marías" (The Three Marys), and as "Los Tres Reyes Magos" (The three Wise Men) in Puerto Rico.[45] Even traditional depictions of Orion have varied greatly. Cicero drew Orion in a similar fashion to the modern depiction. The Hunter held an unidentified animal skin aloft in his right hand; his hand was represented by Omicron2 Orionis and the skin was represented by the 5 stars designated Pi Orionis. Kappa and Beta Orionis represented his left and right knees, while Eta and Lambda Leporis were his left and right feet, respectively. As in the modern depiction, Delta, Epsilon, and Zeta represented his belt. His left shoulder was represented by Alpha Orionis, and Mu Orionis made up his left arm. Lambda Orionis was his head and Gamma, his right shoulder. The depiction of Hyginus was similar to that of Cicero, though the two differed in a few important areas. Cicero's animal skin became Hyginus's shield (Omicron and Pi Orionis), and instead of an arm marked out by Mu Orionis, he holds a club (Chi Orionis). His right leg is represented by Theta Orionis and his left leg is represented by Lambda, Mu, and Epsilon Leporis. Further Western European and Arabic depictions have followed these two models.[43] Future Animation showing Orion's proper motion from 50000 BC to 50000 AD. Pi3 Orionis moves the most rapidly. Further in the future, Orion's stars will gradually move away from the constellation due to proper motion. However, Orion's brightest stars all lie at a large distance from the Earth on an astronomical scale—much farther away than Sirius, for example. Orion will still be recognizable long after most of the other constellations—composed of relatively nearby stars—have distorted into new configurations, with the exception of a few of its stars eventually exploding as supernovae, for example Betelgeuse, which is predicted to explode sometime in the next million years.[55] the three stars of Orion's Belt—Alnitak, Alnilam, and Mintaka.

Stars within a given constellation are usually ranked according to relative brightness by the Greek alphabet. The brightest star is alpha, the second-brightest beta, the third-brightest gamma, and so forth. There are some exceptions, when an especially common constellation (such as Ursa Major or Crux) is numbered according to its linear sequence, like a dot-to-dot diagram. Star names have two parts; the first is the Greek letter indicating its brightness. The second part of a star name indicates its constellation. To obtain this constellation part of the star name, the letter of the Greek alphabet which indicates a star's brightness is conjoined with the Latin genitive case of the name of the constellation. For example, the brightest star of the constellation Centaurus is "alpha-Centauri," which happens to be the star nearest to our own Sun (though it is actually a multiple star system). "Centauri" is the Latin genitive case of "Centaurus." In general, the genitive case is obtained by changing the suffix "-us" to "-i," (e.g., Taurus becomes Tauri). Or, for constellations not ending in "-us," add "-is" (e.g., Orion becomes Orionis). Why is it "Orionis" and not "Orion?" Some stars have their own proper names, like Rigel (in Orion), Vega (in Lyra), or Polaris (in Ursa Minor). These are either prominent, bright stars, or they occupy particular places in the constellations. (For example, two fun star names are Zubenelgenubi and Zubeneschamali, Arabic names meaning "The Southern Claw" and "The Northern Claw," respectively; the stars are in Libra, the Balance. Libra used to be part of Scorpius, the Scorpion; these stars were its two claws.) Most stars, however, don't have special names. For those such stars visible to the eye, we use a system developed by Johann Bayer in the 17th century. He ranked stars in constellations in order from brightest to dimmest, using letters of the Greek alphabet: Alpha is the brightest star of a constellation, Beta the second brightest, etc. When the Greek alphabet has been exhausted, numbers are used. This latter system was devised by the 17th century British astronomer John Flamsteed, who assigned numbers even to stars that Bayer had given letter designations; most people only use the Flamsteed numbers for stars that do not have proper names or Greek letters. As to why it's Orionis rather than Orion, etc.—these are just the genitive (possessive) cases of the Latin names/words for the constellations. Thus, "Delta Orionis" is "4th brightest star of the constellation Orion." While you need to learn Latin for the details (and it's very useful to know Latin, so you should consider it!), for nearly all the constellations the rules are: 1) if the name ends in "a" (Lyra, Andromeda,...), the genitive will end in "ae" (Lyrae, Andromedae,...); 2) if the name ends in "us" or "um" (Cygnus, Cepheus, Scutum,...), the genitive will end in "i" (Cygni, Cephei, Scuti,...); 3) anything else (Orion, Virgo,...) is likely a "3rd declension noun," which indicates a sort of kitchen-sink situation re whether/how the base portion of the noun changes—simple answer is, memorize the genitive versions.

Variable star - encyclopedia - Citezendium FU Orionis stars Named after the prototype of this class, FU Orionis (GCVS code: FU), these stars are characterized by a slow outburst in which the brightness of the star increases up to 6 magnitudes over a number of months and stays at maximum brightness for up to several years after which a slow decline sets in that dims the star by a couple of magnitudes. During an outburst the spectral type of the stars can change significantly and an emission spectrum develops as well. At maximum light, FU Orionis stars are of spectral type A - G after which the spectral type becomes later. All FU Orionis stars are associated with reflecting nebulae.[2][3] FU Orionis stars are pre-main sequence stars somewhat similar to T Tauri stars. The prototype was first discovered in 1939 by A. Wachmann when the star increased some 100-fold in brightness. FU Orionis was studied in depth by George Herbig in the 1960s and 1970s.[2] There are some 10 stars known of this type.

QUETZALCOATL THE FEATHERED SERPENT
Quetzalcoatl Wikipedia Vision ... Quetzalcoatl wears around his neck the breastplate ehecacozcatl, "the spirally voluted wind jewel". This talisman was a conch shell cut at the cross-section and was likely worn as a necklace by religious rulers, as such objects have been discovered in burials in archaeological sites throughout Mesoamerica,[6] and potentially symbolized patterns witnessed in hurricanes, dust devils, seashells, and whirlpools, which were elemental forces that had significance in Aztec mythology.[need quotation to verify] Codex drawings pictured both Quetzalcoatl and Xolotl wearing an ehecacozcatl around the neck.[citation needed] Additionally, at least one major cache of offerings includes knives and idols adorned with the symbols of more than one god, some of which were adorned with wind jewels.[7] Animals thought to represent Quetzalcoatl include resplendent quetzals, rattlesnakes (coatl meaning "serpent" in Nahuatl), crows, and macaws. In his form as Ehecatl he is the wind, and is represented by spider monkeys, ducks, and the wind itself.[8] In his form as the morning star, Venus, he is also depicted as a harpy eagle.[9] In Mazatec legends the astrologer deity Tlahuizcalpanteuctli, who is also represented by Venus, bears a close relationship with Quetzalcoatl.[10] The earliest known documentation of the worship of a Feathered Serpent occurs in Teotihuacan in the first century BC or first century AD.[11] That period lies within the Late Preclassic to Early Classic period (400 BC – 600 AD) of Mesoamerican chronology; veneration of the figure appears to have spread throughout Mesoamerica by the Late Classic period (600–900 AD).[12] In the Postclassic period (900–1519 AD), the worship of the feathered-serpent deity centered in the primary Mexican religious center of Cholula. In this period the deity is known to have been named Quetzalcohuatl by his Nahua followers. In the Maya area he was approximately equivalent to Kukulkan and Gukumatz, names that also roughly translate as "feathered serpent" in different Mayan languages. In the era following the 16th-century Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire, a number of records conflated Quetzalcoatl with Ce Acatl Topiltzin, a ruler of the mythico-historic city of Tollan. Historians debate to what degree, or whether at all, these narratives about this legendary Toltec ruler describe historical events.[13] Furthermore, early Spanish sources written by clerics tend to identify the god-ruler Quetzalcoatl of these narratives with either Hernán Cortés or Thomas the Apostle—identifications which have also become sources of a diversity of opinions about the nature of Quetzalcoatl.[14] Etymology Feathered serpent deity in Mesoamerica Iconographic depictions Quetzalcoatl Feathered Serpent Ornament Feathered Serpent head at the Ciudadela complex in Teotihuacan The first culture to use the symbol of a feathered serpent as an important religious and political symbol was that of Teotihuacan. At temples such as the aptly named "Quetzalcoatl temple" in the Ciudadela complex, feathered serpents figure prominently and alternate with a different kind of serpent head. The earliest depictions of the feathered serpent deity were fully zoomorphic, depicting the serpent as an actual snake, but already among the Classic Maya, images of the deity began acquiring human features, such as the beard (see the Borgia codex illustration above) that he was sometimes depicted with. In the iconography of the classic period, Maya serpent imagery is also prevalent: a snake often appears as the embodiment of the sky itself, and a vision serpent is a shamanic helper presenting Maya kings with visions of the underworld. The archaeological record shows that after the fall of Teotihuacan that marked the beginning of the epi-classic period in Mesoamerican chronology around 600 AD, the cult of the feathered serpent spread to new religious and political centers in central Mexico, centers such as Xochicalco, Cacaxtla and Cholula.[12] Feathered-serpent iconography is prominent at all of these sites. Cholula remained the most important center of worship of Quetzalcoatl, the Aztec/Nahua version of the feathered-serpent deity, in the post-classic period. During the epi-classic period, a dramatic spread of feathered serpent iconography is evidenced throughout Mesoamerica, and during this period images begin to figure prominently at sites such as Chichén Itzá, El Tajín, and throughout the Maya area. Colonial documentary sources from the Maya area frequently speak of the arrival of foreigners from the central Mexican plateau, often led by a man whose name translates as "Feathered Serpent". It has been suggested that these stories recall the spread of the feathered-serpent cult in the epi-classic and early post-classic periods.[12] Represented as the plumed serpent, Quetzalcoatl was also seen as manifest in the wind, one of the most powerful forces of nature; a text in the Nahuatl language captures this relationship: Quetzalcoatl; yn ehecatl ynteiacancauh yntlachpancauh in tlaloque, yn aoaque, yn qujqujiauhti. Auh yn jquac molhuja eheca, mjtoa: teuhtli quaqualaca, ycoioca, tetecujca, tlatlaiooa, tlatlapitza, tlatlatzinj, motlatlaueltia. Quetzalcoatl—he was the wind, the guide and road sweeper of the rain gods, of the masters of the water, of those who brought rain. And when the wind rose, when the dust rumbled, and it crack and there was a great din, became it became dark and the wind blew in many directions, and it thundered; then it was said: "[Quetzalcoatl] is wrathful."[17] Quetzalcoatl also became linked with rulership and priestly office; additionally, among the Toltec, the name was used as a military title and its representation as an emblem.[18][need quotation to verify] In the post-classic Nahua civilization of central Mexico (Aztec), the worship of Quetzalcoatl was ubiquitous. Cult worship may have involved the ingestion of hallucinogenic mushrooms (psilocybes), considered sacred.[19] The most important center was Cholula, where the world's largest pyramid was dedicated to Quetzalcoatl-worship. In Aztec culture, depictions of Quetzalcoatl were fully anthropomorphic. Quetzalcoatl was associated with the wind-god Ehecatl and is often depicted with his insignia: a beak-like mask. Interpretations Vision Serpent depicted on lintel 15 from Yaxchilan the Goddess of the Cave, symbolizing motherhood, reproduction and life Quetzalcoatl as depicted in the Codex Magliabechiano MythsAttributes According to another version of the myth, Quetzalcoatl is one of the four sons of Ometecuhtli and Omecihuatl, the four Tezcatlipocas, each of whom presided over one of the four cardinal directions. Over the West presides the White Tezcatlipoca, Quetzalcoatl, the god of light, justice, mercy and wind. Over the South presides the Blue Tezcatlipoca, Huitzilopochtli, the god of war. Over the East presides the Red Tezcatlipoca, Xipe Totec, the god of gold, farming and springtime. And over the North presides the Black Tezcatlipoca, known by no other name than Tezcatlipoca, the god of judgment, night, deceit, sorcery and the Earth.[25] Quetzalcoatl was often considered the god of the morning star, and his twin brother Xolotl was the evening star (Venus). As the morning star, he was known by the title Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli, meaning "lord of the star of the dawn". He was known as the inventor of books and the calendar, the giver of maize (corn) to mankind, and sometimes as a symbol of death and resurrection. Quetzalcoatl was also the patron of the priests and the title of the twin Aztec high priests. Some legends describe him as opposed to human sacrifice[26] while others describe him practicing it.[27][28] Most Mesoamerican beliefs included cycles of suns. Often our current time was considered the fifth sun,[29] the previous four having been destroyed by flood, fire and the like. Quetzalcoatl went to Mictlan, the underworld, and created fifth-world mankind from the bones of the previous races (with the help of Cihuacoatl), using his own blood, from a wound he inflicted on his earlobes, calves, tongue, and penis, to imbue the bones with new life. It is also suggested that he was a son of Xochiquetzal and Mixcoatl.[citation needed] In the Codex Chimalpopoca, it is said Quetzalcoatl was coerced by Tezcatlipoca into becoming drunk on pulque, cavorting with his older sister, Quetzalpetlatl, a celibate priestess, and neglecting their religious duties. (Many academics conclude this passage implies incest.) The next morning, Quetzalcoatl, feeling shame and regret, had his servants build him a stone chest, adorn him in turquoise, and then, laying in the chest, set himself on fire. His ashes rose into the sky and then his heart followed, becoming the morning star (see Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli).[30] He is also attributed with having brought the cacao plant from a sacred mountain to the Toltec people, teaching the women how to make traditional drinking chocolate.[31] Feathered Serpent The double symbolism used by the Feathered Serpent is considered allegoric to the dual nature of the deity, where being feathered represents its divine nature or ability to fly to reach the skies and being a serpent represents its human nature or ability to creep on the ground among other animals of the Earth, a dualism very common in Mesoamerican deities.[1] Description The pantheon of the people of Teotihuacan (200 BC – 700 AD) also featured a feathered serpent, shown most prominently on the Temple of the Feathered Serpent (dated 150–200 AD).[6] The pyramid was built southeast of the intersection of the avenue of the dead and the east-end avenue. Several feathered serpent representations appear on the building, many of them including full-body profiles and feathered serpent heads. The sculptures utilize practices such as relief carving to create complex ornate compositions. Head carvings of the Feathered Serpent have been frequently found around the Pyramid of the Feathered Serpent. While the feathered serpent has been a common theme in different Mesoamerican works, it is frequently and most commonly reflected in the architecture of Mesoamerican culture. Some common techniques used to incorporate imagery of the Feathered Serpent into this architecture is relief carving, which involves “a sculpture with figures that protrude from a background while still being attached to it” and normally combined with tenoned heads, which are large pieces of stone carved but have a peg of sorts to insert them into the wall area, adding more depth and details to the architecture. Other Mesoamerican structures, such as the ones in Tula, the capital of the later Toltecs (950–1150 AD), also featured profiles of feathered serpents.[7] The Aztec feathered serpent deity known as Quetzalcoatl is known from several Aztec codices, such as the Florentine codex, as well as from the records of the Spanish conquistadors. Quetzalcoatl was known as the deity of wind and rain, bringer of knowledge, the inventor of books, and associated with the planet Venus. The corresponding Mayan god Kukulkan was rare in the Classic era Maya civilization.[8] However, in the Popol Vuh, the K'iche' feathered serpent god Tepeu Q'uq'umatz is the creator of the cosmos.[9] Along with the feathered serpent deity, several other serpent gods existed in the pantheon of Mesoamerican gods with similar traits, all of which had an important role in the cultural development of Mesoamerican cultures. The evidence of the importance of these deities to Mesoamerican culture lies in the architecture left from these civilizations and the rituals surrounding them.

https://en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Wepwawet WEPWAWET OPENER OF THE WAYS In late Egyptian mythology, Wepwawet (hieroglyphic wp-w3w.t; also rendered Upuaut, Wep-wawet, Wepawet, and Ophois) was originally a war deity, whose cult centre was Asyut in Upper Egypt (Lycopolis in the Greco-Roman period). His name means opener of the ways and he is often depicted as a wolf standing at the prow of a solar-boat. Some interpret that Wepwawet was seen as a scout, going out to clear routes for the army to proceed forward.[1] One inscription from the Sinai states that Wepwawet "opens the way" to king Sekhemkhet's victory.[2] Wepwawet originally was seen as a wolf deity, thus the Greek name of Lycopolis, meaning city of wolves, and it is likely the case that Wepwawet was originally just a symbol of the pharaoh, seeking to associate with wolf-like attributes, that later became deified as a mascot to accompany the pharaoh. Likewise, Wepwawet was said to accompany the pharaoh on hunts, in which capacity he was titled (one with) sharp arrow more powerful than the gods alone. Over time, the connection to war and thus to death led to Wepwawet also being seen as one who opened the ways to, and through, Duat, for the spirits of the dead. Through this, and the similarity of the jackal to the wolf, Wepwawet became associated with Anubis, a deity that was worshiped in Asyut, eventually being considered his son. Seen as a jackal, he also was said to be Set's son. Consequently, Wepwawet often is confused with Anubis.[2] This deity appears in the Temple of Seti I at Abydos.[2] In later Egyptian art, Wepwawet was depicted as a wolf or a jackal, or as a man with the head of a wolf or a jackal. Even when considered a jackal, Wepwawet usually was shown with grey, or white fur, reflecting his lupine origins. He was depicted dressed as a soldier, as well as carrying other military equipment—a mace and a bow. For what generally is considered to be lauding purposes of the pharaohs, a later myth briefly was circulated claiming that Wepwawet was born at the sanctuary of Wadjet, the sacred site for the oldest goddess of Lower Egypt that is located in the heart of Lower Egypt. Consequently, Wepwawet, who had hitherto been the standard of Upper Egypt alone, formed an integral part of royal rituals, symbolizing the unification of Egypt. In later Pyramid Texts, Wepwawet is called "Ra" who has gone up from the horizon, perhaps as the "opener" of the sky.[2] In the later Egyptian funerary context, Wepwawet assists at the Opening of the mouth ceremony and guides the deceased into the netherworld.[2]

Daily Mail. Tuesday. March 31, 2015 Page 68 The point of pentangles ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS QUESTION THE pentangle is usually represented as the pentagram, a five-pointed, linear star within a circle, worn or drawn with the point facing up. It served to mark directions in Sumerian texts, dating from about 30BC, and is found in most early cultures. The ancient Greeks established its symbolic status. Greek mathematician and philosopher Pythagoras believed five was the number of perfection, because of the fivefold division of the body (head, arms and legs outstretched) mirroring the division of the soul into fire, water, air, earth and psyche. The Pythagoreans held the pentacle sacred to Hygeia, the goddess of healing. Early Christians wore the pentagram to represent the five wounds of Christ and to symbolise thefive senses. In the 14th-century English poem Sir Gawain And The Green Knight, the symbol decorates the shield of the hero, Gawain. The anonymous poet credits the symbol's origin to King Solomon, and explains that each of the five interconnected points represents a virtue tied to a group of five: Gawain is keen in his five senses, dextrous in his five fingers, faithful to the salvation provided through the Five Wounds of Christ, takes courage from the five joys that Mary had of Jesus and exemplifies the five virtues of knighthood. Renaissance-era ritual magicians, Henry Cornelius Agrippa von Nettesheim (14861535) and Giordano Bruno (1548-1600), used the pentagram to represent the perfection of the human body. To Bruno, five was the `number of the soul' because the human form is bound by five outer points. He warned magicians and sorcerers could perform spells by using the pentagram as it was a window to the soul. As Bruno and other Renaissance philosophers and magicians were executed under the Inquisition, perhaps the symbol came to be associated with evil forces. By the mid-19th century, a further distinction had developed among occultists regarding the pentagram's orientation. With a single point upwards it depicted a spirit presiding over the four elements of matter and was essentially 'good'. Occultists and satanists now claimed that the inverted pentagram was evil, the sign of the Devil even. Influential French occultist Eliphas Levi (1810-75) stated: 'A reversed pentagram, with two points projecting upwards, is a symbol of evil and attracts sinister forces because it overturns the proper order of things and demonstrates the triumph of matter over spirit. 'It is the goat of lust attacking the heavens with its horns, a sign execrated by initiates.' Symbolic: Anton LaVey, of the Church of Satan, with an inverted pentangle (image omitted) Brian Cummings, Hay-on-Wye, Powys.

Pyramid of the Sun Wikipedia The Pyramid of the Sun is the largest building in Teotihuacan, and one of the largest in Mesoamerica. It is believed to have been constructed about 200 AD. The Pyramid of the Sun is the largest building in Teotihuacan, and one of the largest in Mesoamerica. It is believed to have been constructed about 200 AD.[3] Found along the Avenue of the Dead, in between the Pyramid of the Moon and the Ciudadela, and in the shadow of the mountain Cerro Gordo, the pyramid is part of a large complex in the heart of the city. History The Sun pyramid Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan Over the structure, the ancient Teotihuacanos finished their pyramid with lime plaster imported from surrounding areas, on which they painted brilliantly colored murals. While the pyramid has endured for centuries, the paint and plaster have not and are no longer visible. Jaguar heads and paws, stars, and snake rattles are among the few images associated with the pyramids.[citation needed] It is thought that the pyramid venerated a deity within Teotihuacan society. However, little evidence exists to support this hypothesis. The destruction of the temple on top of the pyramid, by both deliberate and natural forces prior to the archaeological study of the site, has so far prevented identification of the pyramid with any particular deity.[citThe pyramid was built on a carefully selected spot, from where it was possible to align it both to the prominent Cerro Gordo to the north and, in perpendicular directions, to sunrises and sunsets on specific dates, recorded by a number of architectural orientations in Mesoamerica.[5] The whole central part of the urban grid of Teotihuacan, including the Avenue of the Dead, reproduces the orientation of the Sun Pyramid, while the southern part exhibits a slightly different orientation, dictated by the Ciudadela.[6]

Earnest references to the number occur both among apocalypticist Christian groups and in explicitly anti-Christian subcultures. Sentient beings (Buddhism) - Wikipedia In Buddhism, sentient beings are beings with consciousness, sentience, or in some contexts life itself. ... Sentient beings are composed of the five aggregates, In Buddhism, sentient beings are beings with consciousness, sentience, or in some contexts life itself.[1] Sentient beings are composed of the five aggregates, or skandhas: matter, sensation, perception, mental formations and consciousness. In the Samyutta Nikaya, the Buddha is recorded as saying that "just as the word 'chariot' exists on the basis of the aggregation of parts, even so the concept of 'being' exists when the five aggregates are available."[2] While distinctions in usage and potential subdivisions or classes of sentient beings vary from one school, teacher, or thinker to another, it principally refers to beings in contrast with buddhahood. That is, sentient beings are characteristically not enlightened, and are thus confined to the death, rebirth, and dukkha (suffering) characteristic of sa?sara.[3] However, Mahayana Buddhism simultaneously teaches that sentient beings also contain Buddha-nature—the intrinsic potential to transcend the conditions of sa?sara and attain enlightenment, thereby obtaining Buddhahood.[4] Those who greatly enlighten illusion are Buddhas; those who are greatly deluded about enlightenment are sentient beings. — —Dogen[3] In Mahayana Buddhism, it is to sentient beings that the Bodhisattva vow of compassion is pledged. Particularly in Tibetan Buddhism and Japanese Buddhism, all beings (including plant life and even inanimate objects or entities considered "spiritual" or "metaphysical" by conventional Western Sentient beings is a term used to designate the totality of living, conscious beings that constitute the object and audience of Buddhist teaching. Translating various Sanskrit terms (jantu, bahu jana, jagat, sattva), sentient beings conventionally refers to the mass of living things subject to illusion, suffering, and rebirth (Sa?sara). Less frequently, sentient beings as a class broadly encompasses all beings possessing consciousness, including Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.[1] Classification?[edit] Early scriptures in the Pali Canon and the conventions of the Tibetan Bhavacakra classify sentient beings into five categories—divinities, humans, animals, tormented spirits, and denizens of hell—although sometimes the classification adds another category of beings called asuras between divinities and humans.[1]
What Is a Sentient Being? Definition and Examples of Sentient Beings sentientmedia.org › sentient-being Who Is a Sentient Being? There are a number of different definitions for sentience, and thus sentient beings. Most of the disagreements surrounding who qualifies are about different animals and where they fall on the scale of sentience. In Buddhism, a sentient being includes every conscious creature. There are several classes of sentient beings. Amongst these are a class for humans and one for animals. The class of animals includes all species whether mammal, bird, fish, or insect. The classes are ranked, however, with people ranking above animals. Plants are the only living thing excluded from consideration as a sentient being, because Buddhists do not see them as conscious.

Diet of Worms Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Diet_of_Worms The Diet of Worms of 1521 (German: Reichstag zu Worms ['?a?çsta?k tsu? 'v??ms]) was an imperial diet (a formal deliberative assembly) of the Holy Roman Empire called by Emperor Charles V and conducted in the Imperial Free City of Worms. Martin Luther was summoned to the Diet in order to renounce or reaffirm his views in response to a Papal bull of Pope Leo X. In answer to questioning, he defended these views and refused to recant them. At the end of the Diet, the Emperor issued the Edict of Worms (Wormser Edikt), a decree which condemned Luther as "a notorious heretic" and banned citizens of the Empire from propagating his ideas. Although the Protestant Reformation is usually considered to have begun in 1517, the edict signals the first overt schism. The diet was conducted from 28 January to 25 May 1521 at the Heylshof Garden, with the Emperor presiding.[1] Other imperial diets took place at Worms in the years 829, 926, 1076, 1122, 1495, and 1545, but unless plainly qualified, the term "Diet of Worms" usually refers to the assembly of 1521.

The Tibetan Book of the Great Liberation The-Tibetan-Book-of-the-Great-Liberation-Padma-Sambhava ... Bardo Thodol - Wikipedia (2005) The Tibetan Book of the Dead [English title]: The Great Liberation by Hearing in the Intermediate States [Tibetan title]; composed by Padma Sambhava:The Bardo Thodol (Tibetan: ??????????????, Wylie: bar do thos grol, "Liberation Through Hearing During the Intermediate State"), commonly known in the West as The Tibetan Book of the Dead, is a terma text from a larger corpus of teachings, the Profound Dharma of Self-Liberation through the Intention of the Peaceful and Wrathful Ones,[1][note 1] revealed by Karma Lingpa (1326–1386). It is the best-known work of Nyingma literature.[3] In 1927 the text was one of the first examples of both Tibetan and Vajrayana literature to be translated into a European language and arguably continues to this day to be the best known.[4][5] The Tibetan text describes, and is intended to guide one through, the experiences that the consciousness has after death, in the bardo, the interval between death and the next rebirth. The text also includes chapters on the signs of death and rituals to undertake when death is closing in or has taken place. The text can be used as either an advanced practice for trained meditators or to support the uninitiated during the death experience.Etymology The Tibetan bar and its Sanskrit cognate antara mean ‘between.’ The Sanskrit bhava means a place of existence. Thus antarabhava means ‘an existence between,’ translated into Tibetan as bardo. Wikipedia The Diamond Sutra (Sanskrit: Vajracchedika Prajñaparamita Sutra) is a Mahayana (Buddhist) sutra from the genre of Prajñaparamita ('perfection of wisdom') sutras. Translated into a variety of languages over a broad geographic range, the Diamond Sutra is one of the most influential Mahayana sutras in East Asia, and it is particularly prominent within the Chan (or Zen) tradition,[1] along with the Heart Sutra. A copy of the Tang dynasty–Chinese version of the Diamond Sutra was found among the Dunhuang manuscripts in 1900 by Daoist monk Wang Yuanlu and sold to Aurel Stein in 1907.[2] They are dated back to 11 May 868.[3] It is, in the words of the British Library, "the earliest dated printed book".[4] It is also the first known creative work with an explicit public domain dedication, as its colophon at the end states that it was created "for universal free distribution".[5] The Sanskrit title for the sutra is the Vajracchedika Prajñaparamita Sutra, This article contains special characters. Without proper rendering support, you may see question marks, boxes, or other symbols. The exact date of the composition of the Diamond Sutra in Sanskrit is uncertain—arguments for the 2nd and 5th centuries have been made.[1] The first Chinese translation dates to the early 5th century, but, by this point, the 4th or 5th century monks Asanga and Vasubandhu seem to have already authored authoritative commentaries on its content.[1] Frontispiece of the 'Diamond Sutra' written in Chinese, engraved and gilded on nephrite jade. China, 1732. Chester Beatty Library. The first translation of the Diamond Sutra into Chinese is thought to have been made in 401 by the venerated and prolific translator Kumarajiva.[7] Kumarajiva's translation style is distinctive, possessing a flowing smoothness that reflects his prioritization on conveying the meaning as opposed to precise literal rendering.[8] The Kumarajiva translation has been particularly highly regarded over the centuries, and it is this version that appears on the 868 Dunhuang scroll. It is the most widely used and chanted Chinese version.[9] In addition to the Kumarajiva translation, a number of later translations exist. The Diamond Sutra was again translated from Sanskrit into Chinese by Bodhiruci in 509, Paramartha in 558, Dharmagupta (twice, in 590 and in 605~616), Xuanzang (twice, in 648 and in 660~663), and Yijing in 703.[7] The Chinese Buddhist monk Xuanzang visited a Mahasa?ghika-Lokottaravada monastery at Bamiyan, Afghanistan, in the 7th century. Using Xuanzang's travel accounts, modern archaeologists have identified the site of this monastery.[10] Birchbark manuscript fragments of several Mahayana sutras have been discovered at the site, including the Vajracchedika Prajñaparamita Sutra (MS 2385), and these are now part of the Schøyen Collection.[10] This manuscript was written in the Sanskrit language, and written in an ornate form of the Gupta script.[10] This same Sanskrit manuscript also contains the Medicine Buddha Sutra (Bhai?ajyaguruvai?uryaprabharaja Sutra).[10] Statue of Kumarajiva in front of the Kizil Caves in Kuqa, Xinjiang province, China One of the best known commentaries is the Exegesis on the Diamond Sutra by Huineng, the Sixth Patriarch of the Chan School.[12] The Diamond Sutra features prominently in the 1st chapter of the Platform Sutra, the religious biography of Huineng, where hearing its recitation is supposed to have triggered the enlightening insight that led Huineng to abandon his life as a woodcutter to become a Buddhist monk.[1] The Vajracchedika Prajñaparamita Sutra contains the discourse of the Buddha to a senior monk, Subhuti.[13] Its major themes are anatman (not-self), the emptiness of all phenomena (though the term 'sunyata' itself does not appear in the text),[14] the liberation of all beings without attachment and the importance of spreading and teaching the Diamond Sutra itself. In his commentary on the Diamond Sutra, Hsing Yun describes the four main points from the sutra as giving without attachment to self, liberating beings without notions of self and other, living without attachment, and cultivating without attainment.[15] According to Shigenori Nagatomo, the major goal of the Diamond Sutra is: "an existential project aiming at achieving and embodying a non-discriminatory basis for knowledge" or "the emancipation from the fundamental ignorance of not knowing how to experience reality as it is".[16] In the sutra, the Buddha has finished his daily walk to Sravasti with the monks to gather offerings of food, and he sits down to rest. Elder Subhuti comes forth and asks the Buddha: "How, Lord, should one who has set out on the bodhisattva path take his stand, how should he proceed, how should he control the mind?"[17] What follows is a dialogue regarding the nature of the "perfection of insight" (Prajñaparamita) and the nature of ultimate reality (which is illusory and empty). The Buddha begins by answering Subhuti by stating that he will bring all living beings to final nirvana, but that after this "no living being whatsoever has been brought to extinction".[17] This is because a bodhisattva does not see beings through reified concepts such as "person", "soul" or "self", but sees them through the lens of perfect understanding, as empty of inherent, unchanging self. A Nepalese sculpture of a vajra "As far as 'all dharmas' are concerned, Subhuti, all of them are dharma-less. That is why they are called 'all dharmas'." Another reason why the Buddha makes use of negation is that language reifies concepts and this can lead to attachment to those concepts, but true wisdom is seeing that nothing is fixed or stable, hence according to the Diamond Sutra thoughts such as "I have obtained the state of an Arhat" or "I will bring living beings to nirvana" do not even occur in an enlightened one's mind because this would be "seizing upon a self ... seizing upon a living being, seizing upon a soul, seizing upon a person".[17] The sutra goes on to state that anyone who says such things should not be called a bodhisattva. According to David Kalupahana the goal of the Diamond Sutra is "one colossal attempt to avoid the extremist use of language, that is, to eliminate any ontological commitment to concepts while at the same time retaining their pragmatic value, so as not to render them totally empty of meaning".[14] Kalupahana explains the negation of the Diamond Sutra by seeing an initial statement as an erroneous affirmation of substance or selfhood, which is then critiqued ("'all dharmas' are dharmaless"), and then finally reconstructed ("that is why they are called 'all dharmas'") as being conventional and dependently originated. Kalupahana explains this final reconstruction as meaning: "that each concept, instead of either representing a unique entity or being an empty term, is a substitute for a human experience which is conditioned by a variety of factors. As such, it has pragmatic meaning and communicative power without being absolute in any way."[14] According to Paul Harrison, the Diamond Sutra's central argument here is that "all dharmas lack a self or essence, or to put it in other words, they have no core ontologically, they only appear to exist separately and independently by the power of conventional language, even though they are in fact dependently originated".[18] The mind of someone who practices the Prajñaparamita or "perfection of insight" is then a mind free from fixed substantialist or "self" concepts: However, Lord, the idea of a self will not occur to them, nor will the idea of a living being, the idea of a soul, or the idea of a person occur. Why is that? Any such idea of a self is indeed idealess, any idea of a living being, idea of a soul, or idea of a person is indeed idealess. Why is that? Because the Buddhas and Lords are free of all ideas.[17] Throughout the teaching, the Buddha repeats that successful memorization and elucidation of even a four-line extract of it is of incalculable merit, better than giving an entire world system filled with gifts and can bring about enlightenment. Section 32 (of the Chinese version) also ends with a four-line gatha: All conditioned phenomena Are like a dream, an illusion, a bubble, a shadow, Like dew or a flash of lightning; Thus we shall perceive them.[19] Paul Harrison's translation of the Sanskrit version states:[17] A shooting star, a clouding of the sight, a lamp, An illusion, a drop of dew, a bubble, A dream, a lightning's flash, a thunder cloud— This is the way one should see the conditioned. Red Pine's translation about life showed that the text read: [20] A star at dawn, a bubble in a stream, A flash of lightning in a summer cloud, A flickering lamp, a phantom, and a dream.
